The Defining Moment:

We all have them.

They are what makes us, us. It is pretty simple really. We handle them in one of two ways.

When we come to a difficult situation we either break through the obstacle by finding a solution, opening our minds and hearts and turning it into a positive and learning experience OR we back up, play the victim and blame others for the situation we are in.

A great example is a friend’s daughter who was trying with her husband for more than two years to have a baby. They discovered last year, around Mother’s Day she was finally pregnant. For the next 9 months, the pregnancy was going perfectly. Until, a few days before their little girl was supposed to be born, she felt no movements from the baby so they rushed to the hospital and they performed an emergency C-section.

Their beautiful, little girl died in their arms that day back in January. Traumatic. But the mother, also a professional writer, recently wrote about this harrowing experience for the newspaper to share it and raise awareness. She also formed a team to take part in a foundation walk to raise money that will be directed towards more equipment in the neonatal intensive care units and nurseries. It’s a defining moment that will not only change this mother’s life but many lives.

Why am I telling you this?

In our line of business of helping people change their financial situations we talk to people every day who are at the threshold of their defining moment; they are broke, frustrated, stuck in a dead end job, etc. but instead of breaking through the obstacles, opening up their minds and finding a solution, many step back. Instead, they blame the industry, blame their upline, blame society, blame the environment, and blame God, you name it.

What will you do at your defining moment?

If you take a step back than you definitely are not ready for the Marketing/Networking/Direct Sales Industry or owning your own business for that matter. It takes courage, risk taking, discipline and willingness to step up to the plate. If you are deciding whether or not to own your own business you should seriously consider these factors and how you handle them. No matter what ‘Magic Pill’ people are offering out there, Entrepreneurs and Marketers alike know that it’s all about challenging yourself and growing. You must be able to open up your mind and heart.

Break through the obstacles – You are not alone.

A good mentoring or training program will give you the tools and support in turning things around, especially one that is generic. There are so many phenomenal success coaches, mentors and trainers out there; it just depends on your budget. Just remember to look and listen for cues that would fit your personality. Do you want your hand held or someone who is going to through you into the water to see if you will sink or swim? Pretty important things to look for. Just make sure they are going to challenge you to grow.
