The Bigger Picture

As I watched the nurses plug the wires into my husband’s chest (he was getting cardioverted for his atrial flutter), I thought of how grateful I am for the both us to work from home and spend time quality time with each other and with our children from the beginning while they are still so young.

It’s all about the bigger picture isn’t it?

I am not talking about buying a fancy car or the marterial stuff that can come with a successful home business. I am talking about the bottom line. Not spending our time in a tall, cold structure downtown in an office all day, commuting back and forth wondering if our babies took their first steps or first words. Brad and I were both here for those moments.

It puts it into a larger perspective when someone is sick or a family member passes away.

It smacks you head on like a freight train that life is so precious, so amazing that to not be present in it, would be a crime. My own father died some years ago and I remember all of the things he said he wanted to do but never got the chance. Time we didn’t get to spend with each other because he was working outside of the home or in hospital rooms.

I was dancing with my 2-year-old daughter last night while she dozed off and was thinking, “This is what it’s all about. This is our driving motivation, to have these precious moments whenever we want them because we are home with our children while other parents begrudgingly go off to work.”

So whenever you wonder, why I am working towards this home business thing? Is it worth it? Will I make money? Stop. Take a look at the world around you, the people around you and who you want to spend time with, whenever you want to spend time with them. And the answer will undoubtedly be, “Yes, it’s most definitely all worth it.”

Exclusive Marketing Secrets We're About to Reveal

Before I get into this I just have to ask you this question:

Do you think successful marketers keep their secrets from you because they can make more money off you by selling their knowledge off in ‘CHUNKS’ rather than the whole enchilada and ultimately barring you to build your business and make a profit?

The answer is unequivocally, “yes.”

The shocking truth is that most successful marketers want you to pay hundreds and even thousands to attend their seminars, buy their CD’s and listen to their conference calls to get the ‘real’ information in bits and pieces that will help you build your business like the big boys and girls.

Are you frustrated to join a business, only finding out you will have to spend more on monthly payments to get this information on how these successful people at the top are utilizing fishing holes of eager prospects only to keep them for themselves?

What if I could give you access to these world class marketers behind the scenes?

If you could talk live to any of the successful Networkers out there and start asking them in detail how they are building their businesses off and online, would you?

Do you think they would tell you?

What if these successful marketers would reveal step-by-step, surefire methods on what they are doing to create these massive profit centers?

Our close friend, Val Smyth, founder Mentors in Motion, Makers of Millionaires is known for unleashing closely guarded secrets in the industry that created his multi-millionaire status and became one of the top marketers in the industry.

He opened up the gates in the mentoring industry, that many have tried to duplicate, but only failed miserably. He is contacting his peers and former students who have also reaped a fortune to spill the goods in this tell all program.

Just some of the things these marketers will reveal:

· Flood your business with eager, qualified prospects, customers and clients who want to talk to you . . .

· Online tactics that will catapult your business to new heights (despite the disgusting results you saw previously) . . .

· Boost your profits and your bank account (even if you’re previous profits were a big, fat $0) . . .

· Pulverize your competition (now they will be begging you for information) . . .

· Amplify traffic to your website (techniques to apply so that prospects will be coming in droves) . . .

Stay tuned for more information about this exclusive program we are so excited to bring to other networkers with our good friend, Val.

Forget Goal Setting, Expect it to Happen - No Fear

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not;
nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent.
Genius will not;

unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not;
the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the
problems of the human race."
- Calvin Coolidge

How are you approaching your business? Better yet, how are you
approaching your life on a daily basis? I know there are the scattered
few who do fine with goal setting.

Let's talk about the truth. Goal setting is like New Year's
resolutions and we know how fast those go into the toilet. When I came
to the realization of what goal setting means it no longer made sense
to me. Goal setting is something you plan in the future. You're always
chasing it. You make a goal to lose weight and most of us quit before
we start once we see the dessert tray go by. It's the same in chasing
success. Making or planning a goal to be successful is like chasing
your dream. Hoping and trying for it to happen but never seeing it
come to fruition.

Expectations are having no doubt of failure. Just like you expect to
get out of bed in the morning. You expect to get dressed. You expect
to go about your daily day. Expect to do well in your business, no
questions asked, no doubts, no fears. . . This wil keep you a step
ahead from the rest of the people out there working there businesses.
You see people don't usually fail because there is something wrong
with the business, they fail because they give up.

When you have full expectations of success and no room for failure,
you will keep looking at different ways to approach your business
until you find a way that works for you because you perservere.
Perserverance and determination are a common trait among the
successful, it's not better tools or more eductation. As the saying goes,
"Never, never, never, give in, never give up in business or in life.

Writing can give power to your business only if you do it.

I know I always say writing articles and press releases are great marketing techniques and ways to get your message out there. I suppose it's because I love writing.

So when you sit down at the computer to start writing do you find your eyes wandering out the window at how beatiful the day is and does your mind follow? Don't worry. For many people, writing can be a totally overwhelming task which may push you to give up before you even get started.

There are some surefire ways to overcome this challenge. So let us go step by step at what may be blocking you from writing your next great ad, article or even a simple press release.

Writer's Block:
Everyone gets it. The greatest advice I have received on how to overcome writer's block is to just start writing without even thinking. An idea will eventually spark. Also, a good tip I was told awhile back is don’t worry about editing while you are writing your original draft. Editing and more editing will come later.

How do I find ideas?
One of the best things you can do is to read. Read whatever you can, when you can. I scour marketing sites, blogs, online newsletters, magazines, newspapers and get sensational ideas from the news such as CNN. In fact, read the competition, you may find angles they aren’t tackling.

The Formula:
Answer questions like how, what, where, when and why and the answers to those questions could fill pages before you know it.

Journaling:
Blogs and journals are fantastic for getting your thoughts down and getting you used to writing on a daily basis. I am writing in so many different venues that it can sometimes be hard to keep up. I must say personal journals are an incredible way to work through ideas, business projects and mindset as well. These venues were geared to give people a place to share ideas and opinions and get some dialogue going.

The most important part to remember is have fun, write what you have a passion for because it will shine through and people will get to know who you are through your writing. Writing can be extremely powerful for yourself and your business.

Prosperity Consciousness? If this is a question, we may have a problem . . .

Do you have a poverty consciousness or a prosperity consciousness? When we say mindset is everything, we mean it. This doesn’t translate to sitting on the mountain top to meditate, although it’s a good stress reliever, it doesn’t build a business.

Okay, let’s take our health and wellness business. It’s only a $50 investment and you receive product, a $500 lifetime mentorship and a priceless study course that reflects All of the Laws of the Universe which is reflected in The Secret movies and quoted several times in The Secret book.

Yet, because it’s such an inexpensive price, many don’t take it seriously. They don’t look at the potential of tens of thousands and even millions of dollars they can make. They look at everything they have just received as expendable instead of priceless.

Within a month or two it gets launched it into the trash toppling over the last five other mlms just “invested” in. The frustration mounts, mindset and belief goes down and the cycle continues. Why?

As the Father of Personal Development, Charles Haanel said the world within is a reflection of the world without. You are the world within including how you think and the world without are the effects of the actions you take including your business. So what is your belief level? Do you have faith in your success? Or do you have the poverty consciousness that you will never achieve the financial level you want?

How do you look at your business? It’s reflected in your profits. Don’t believe me? Take a look at your bank account right now and add up how much of it is a result of your networking or internet business. Having the right mindset will lead to action in building your business.

We will talk more about what actions we are taking in building our business that work and warn you about some that definitely don't. We will also discuss the steps in getting into the right mindset.

Gary Halbert - Has Passed Away. . .

“Sad day. I’m speechless. In case you haven’t heard, the infamous Gary Halbert, the Alpha Shitweasel, the Prince of Print, died in his sleep on Easter Sunday. All I can say is, the copywriting world has lost one of its biggest icons. There will NEVER be another Gary Halbert, that’s for sure.” – this is the shocking message I read today when I clicked on Michel Fortin’s latest blog.

I was just getting to know what an incredible icon Gary was in the copywriting & marketing world and he will be missed. His brutally honest, aggressive and raw copywriting blew my mind the first time I heard an interview with Gary and Michel Fortin.
I had already heard about him from Perry Marshall and John Carlton and was so excited to hear Gary Halbert speak even if it was just in audio. Whenever I listen to or meet people who have turned the written word into an art form I am almost in awe. Like so many others Brad and I are drawn to as mentors, Gary didn’t hold any punches and went right for the gut. Don’t you just love that?

He has made a great impact on the world of marketing and helped to create some world class marketers. His work will continue to teach others in the years to come. Peace to you Gary and know that you had a profound impact and made your mark to help so many.

Is the Internet a Scapegoat for Avoiding Confrontation?

Is our dependency on the internet enabling us to avoid face to face confrontation? We talk to each other everyday by text and email messages. Even start and end relationships through email. Did you know there are websites and businesses you can get break up letters from and will even do the breaking up for you? Wow!

Have we gone too far? Our industry has it’s foundation in developing relationships and I have to wonder if our relationships via the Internet instead of in person or by phone is diminishing. I also have to admit that I am just as guilty as the rest of them.

When Brad and I started out in the industry we followed others who were doing the whole hotel meeting tour and meeting prospects in coffee shops. We lugged our baby in the car carrier back and forth along with our laptop and signup sheets. It was so exhausting, especially when our guests didn’t even show up! The price of gas was going up and we were tired and feeling frustrated. When we were introduced to a variety of different methods to network with people via the phone and the Internet, we were absolutely elated. Our business started growing faster and now that we have two little ones we didn’t have to drag around to meetings waiting patiently in a coffee shop for someone to blow us off.

I love the Internet and what it has brought us – a growing business that has allowed both myself and my husband to work from home, new friends and business partners, an outlet for my passion of the written word and so much education at my fingertips about marketing and copywriting and often much of it for free.

To tell you the truth my relationships off the ‘Net’ in the real world are better because I no longer have to hound my friends and family about my business. If people want to actually talk to me who approach me through our autoresponder, they will leave a phone number, although people usually feel more comfortable texting through Skype.

What the Internet also has done is enabled people who weren’t usually social to be able to meet others and feel comfortable talking to others through their computer. Imagine the doors it has opened for these shy, introverted people who wanted to meet others but never felt comfortable before. There are social networking groups for every kind of interest out there. It is much like off the Internet, you are still developing relationships with people but now the Internet has allowed us to reach across the world and develop friendships with people in other countries and continents. When it all comes down to it, I see the wonders of the Internet as a positive thing and I think some people will seek avoidance no matter what.

It's A Mom's Life

When I am not separating lights and darks, kissing boo boos, sucking cheerios out from underneath the sofa or playing hide and seek, I am running a business. On the contrary of what many people think that I may sit on the couch eating bon bons and watching Oprah That’s the joke my husband used to say when he was still in a 9 to 5 job.

He certainly changed his tune when he decided to work by my side as a work at home dad. Everyday consists of organizing the day between activities for our toddlers, meals and snacks and bathtime and organization of the business, and who is taking what role as mom and dad or business owner. Then there is of course the “sometimes life gets in the way situations of a melt down or the latest sniffles the kids are passing back and forth to each other at a playdate.

I just wanted to inform people out there why there are so many networking sites for stay at home and work at home moms. If you’re a mom you know what I am talking about. ;) We need others to relate to and talk to when we feel like we are at our wits end trying to find the balance between the two.

I always tell people I didn’t know what busy was until I became a mom. It’s a 24/7 job, one of the toughest but most rewarding in my opinion. To me, having a business from home is my version of having it all, but it comes with a price. And when I listen to people who work at a 9 to 5 and say they don’t have time to fit in a part time business that may be able to replace their full time, I just giggle.

“Yes. Busy,” I reply rolling my eyes. Not everyone has a dowry like me so my full time nanny can take care of the kids all day and my assistant can do all the work for me while I go and get my nails and hair done at the spa and my business magically grows . . . I am kidding! I remember attending a networking training and the trainers said, “When someone says they are busy, say don’t kid yourself, we are all busy.” Hit the nail on the head.

What I have learned is when someone replies “I am too busy” the translation is “It’s just not a priority for me right now.” Really, think about it. If the next person who called you said he had an extra first class full-paid ticket to Bermuda for a week would you say, “Hmmm, I am really too busy.” Yeah, right.

I am speaking from experience because I used to be that person and still use that excuse on occasion, because let’s face it, I am always busy. Even if I am busy taking time out for myself.

Standing Still

We hear so many stories of people being told they can’t accomplish their goals or dreams or will never make it and in fact, go on to be great leaders and role models in our society. Oprah comes to mind of course and The Pursuit of Happyness’ Christopher Gardner . His story brings tears to my eyes not because it’s a rags to riches story, but because his son was a driving force to overcome any obstacle.

Being a dedicated mother myself, one of my dreams was to be home with my children and give them a better life and teach them that anything is accessible to them. How grateful I am that my husband Brad is also my business partner and our children are able to be with both of us whenever they want because we are both running a business out of our home. Yes, there are sacrifices. Yes, it isn’t easy working with and living with each other around the clock. Yes, it’s worth it. Having a dream and not allowing anyone else to tell you “No”, is paramount to how I live.

Today, when people tell me I can’t do something, I say “Thank you.”

Why?

Because they are giving me fuel to prove myself despite what others may think or say. It could be human nature or just the way I am wired.

When I was younger, I went through some difficult stages and made some mistakes with my life, that serve as learning experiences today. But while I was in that part of my life, I had no hope for my dreams, couldn’t even see a future, but there was still a small part of me that kept driving forward. You see, I have learned dreams can start small and as you reach the smaller ones, your dreams expand into bigger and better ones.

When I was in my early 20s all I wanted was to straighten my head out and go back to college, finish and major in one of my passions - writing. Before when I attended school I was following everyone else’s dreams and eventually flunked out. Big surprise.

When I decided to go back to school on my own steam, despite being broke, I remember my mother saying, “You’re just fooling yourself.” The one person who was supposed to have unconditional faith in my ability to do anything didn’t even have faith in me anymore. My heart sank into my stomach and the disappointment in myself was overwhelming.

This was a defining moment. -- It solidified that I was going to do it, find a way. Straighten myself out, start following my dreams. On my terms. And I did, applied for loans, found housing on campus, worked a part time job while attending college full time. I immersed myself in school and graduated with a journalism degree with honors.

It was just the first step, which led to a journey that I had always dreamed about but never expected including finally moving across country on my own with what belongings I could fit in my pick up truck, meeting my soul mate, finding my passion and myself and having two beautiful children. And my journey has only begun, my dreams keep expanding as I fulfill more of them. I wake up some days, tired, but still elated that this is my life.

I remember one particular evening talking to my father as he lay in one of many hospital beds (he was sick for over 20 years before passing on July 23, 2002).

“Don’t ever pass up any opportunities,” he said looking at me wondering if this was the last time we would talk. I had learned in his later years that he had passed up his own opportunities and dreams offered to him, because of fear. Can you imagine, coming to the end of your life, saying, would of, could of, should of? That’s my worst fear and another driving force. Why I am telling you this? Life doesn’t stop even when you are standing still.

It Comes Out with Soap & Water

It comes out with soap and water.

That’s what I was thinking when my 1 ½ year old decided to paint and marker herself in the colors of the rainbow from head to toe this morning. It’s the price I pay to encourage her creativity, then what’s the harm? No worries, I thought as I looked at her sweet little blue eyes looking up at me. In this day and age, where television, computers and even stuffed animals who read stories for you, creativity is not an encouragement. We are taught from a very young age, to follow like sheep and never ask questions or think for yourself. Our mentor calls this phenomenon, the walking dead.

We see it every day in our business. Grown men and women not wanting to think for themselves.

“Do you have a system that I could just follow steps 1 to 3 and I don’t have to be there and it builds my income for me?” These people ask.
“You mean do you never have to think, make mistakes or use your creative mind to come up with solutions that may be outside the box? And we do all the work for you?” I reply with a smirk on my face.

Sometimes, I sit on the other end of the phone or computer, just not even knowing what to say because I am so flabbergasted at the thought. Especially in an industry that is founded on looking outside of the norm, making your own path on your own strengths and passions.

What the heck do some of these sheeple think? That’s right I said Sheeple. The people who just walk through life like sheep. How can we go through life not being present in the whole process of it? Making creative decisions and letting the juices flow are what makes us, well, human. Unique. And believe it or not, that uniqueness sells us and helps others relate to us.

Without creativity and the ability to use our minds we wouldn’t have any of the luxuries we have today. I don’t know what I would do without my microwave, cell phone or even computer. It was all part of the creative process. Once a spark that started in someone’s head, a problem that was asking for a solution.

Apply this process to your business. What kinds of problems do people have that you could solve? Weight loss, poor health, not enough website traffic or financially broke? This is where the creative process starts. If you can offer that solution and offer it in a more unique way than the next person, you have a leg up, my friend. The mind is everything and allowing it to work is key to building a business.

Mike Litman, the number one best-selling co-author of the book "Conversations With Millionaires," has a great quote that I often share with others who are worried about getting every little detail right and not allowing their creativity to guide them.

“You Don't Have To Get It Right, You Just Have To Get It Going.”

How’s that for simple? People don’t become successful by following on the heels of others and not allowing their own minds to go to work. The creative ideas will come, some will be good and some won’t and really, who cares? In the end, people will be impressed by your boldness and uniqueness.

They will think, “Hey, that’s actually a pretty cool idea. What else is this guy or gal up to” and they start checking you out. Sometimes contacting you immediately or watching from the sidelines to see what you’re all about.

Whenever you fall down, face covered with embarassment, pick yourself back up and keep moving forward, upward and onward. Remember, it will wash off with a little soap and water.

Amigo Health Labs has the Skinny on Weight Loss

We just had to share the info about the weight loss system released in our Amigo Health business because the incredible testimonials we have been hearing.

I have to admit that I am totally addicted to the protein shakes. I mix them with my Charge energy drink in the morning before going to my workout or just chasing after the kids. It’s a great meal replacement or snack for a busy mom. There are days when I am lucky to get in a shower, let alone eat a full meal! The shakes are great for a quick treat.

The BKS Mindset Marketing team (http://www.nhl-amigos.com/worldwide) of Amigo Health Labs announced the release of a cutting edge weight loss system. Weight loss testers have been reporting the loss of one pound to 4 pounds on a daily basis. The all-natural products are designed to synergistically work together as a system consists of a body cleanse formula called Amigo Cleanse, a thermogenic formula, Amigo Boost and protein meal replacement, Amigo Trim.

“The thermogenic system stimulates the metabolic system in a safe manner,” said Michael Grant, CEO and formulator of the weight loss system on a recent conference call. “It doesn’t give you heart palpatations and doesn’t make you feel like you drank a pot of coffee. Grant said explaining that it makes more sense for the thermogenic part of the system to support the heart and soul of the system and not be the system.

“You can go to any health food store and buy the latest and greatest fad on weight loss and ninety percent of the time it’s pure thermogenic. That can put a serious drain on your adrenal function. When you stop a weight loss system that’s purely based on thermogenic inevitably your system will have a reversal and more often than not that’s the greatest single cause of why people gain more weight after a diet than what they lost,” said Grant.

The system is designed to work together and is in a 7-day or 14-day system and also sold separately at highly competitive prices within today’s market. Testimonials from some Amigo Health Labs members are reporting daily results such as losing 1 to 4 pounds a day.

The Amigo Trim is used as a protein meal replacement with water or skim milk as a shake or delicious pudding. The Amigo Boost is an advanced thermogenic weight loss booster made with all natural ingredients including Hoodia, Yerba Mate and Guarana to boost metabolism, increase energy and decrease appetite. The Amigo Cleanse is for the detoxification of the body for overall health including psyllium and fennel seed, which increases the production of digestive fluids, reducing inflammation.

“We are on the fourth of day of the weight loss system. The chocolate is delicious. In the first two days alone I lost two pounds and my husband has already lost 10
pounds. This is a proven system that tastes great and works fast!” said Kelly Smith of the BKS Mindset Marketing Team.

It’s flagship product, Amigo Juice and energy drink, Amigo Charge contain the three superfoods - Goji, Mangosteen and Acai, which have already become widely known throughout the networking, health and media industry.
Amigo Health Labs has been distinguishing itself in the market with its progressive compensation plan that pays on the dollar up to 81% because it’s manufacturer direct to the consumer eliminating the middleman.

For more information regarding the 20-year-old company, products or business call us: 1-866-804-3398 or email us: paid4life@shaw.ca. Women Have the Power

As I push my shopping cart through the checkout aisle in my local grocery, something catches my eye, or should I say, several things catch my eye. Headlines screaming, “Lose 30 Lbs, the Easy Way”, “Get the Sizzle Back in the Bedroom” and “Health Tips in Prevention of Breast Cancer.” All of these people promising me a solution to every problem under the sun including world peace and living a longer life. What’s a girl to do? Of course! I purchase. I load the tantalizing magazines for that promise to answer my most prevalent problems onto the belt. I’ve got priorities you know.

In the meantime, my toddler is able to quickly grab a treat from the checkout stand on the other side while I am distracted, because of course they put the chocolate low enough for the kids to reach and take a bite into before I notice and now am forced to purchase! No wonder women buy over 80% of consumer purchases.

I recently came across these statistics from Catalyst Research and Lusk-Moore and Associates (LMA).

- Women are leaving corporations at twice the rate of men, many to start their own businesses.
- Women buy over 80% of consumer purchases, including over 50% of electronics, computers and investments.
- Women own 66% of home based businesses

Knowing this, who are you gearing your marketing ads to? The amount of women to men on the Internet is just about equal these days, yet I see so many opportunity ads geared towards men.

According to another article I was reading about marketing to women (although I have been saying this for years), Women (mid-20s to mid-50's) don't have a lot of time available to absorb the information. I am seeing more and more women these days discover the whole concept of getting their cake and eating it too. Things are reversing and a huge number of moms are working from home doing a balance act of running a home based business while being a mom to their children.

So offering smaller chunks of information for women to read likely will cut through the clutter they are juggling on a daily basis. These are things to remember when marketing to women for your products and services. Women don’t have a great deal of time, so make it pithy and offer something enticing to come back for more such as a bonus gift.

The company, Amigo Health Inc., a debt-free company out of Denver, Co was actually founded by supplement manufacturers with nearly 20 years of experience in formulating and private label manufacturing of natural supplements for network marketing companies, naturopaths and healthcare practitioners. Because they have a history in shipping natural supplements they are able to ship worldwide in all but 4 countries currently.

Because the product is formulated and manufactured “in house” the compensation plan pays on the dollar in a 3 by 9 force matrix where people get paid from 3% up to 9% on 9 levels.

“That’s up to 81% being paid out to the distributors which is unheard of in the networking industry. Not to mention they pay weekly. The other “in house” advantage of Amigo Health is that they don’t have to go through the growing pains of most companies or outsource,” said Kelly Smith of MIM-Amigos and Presidential Status of Amigo Health Compensation Plan.

The three Superfoods - Goji, Mangosteen and Acai, have already become widely known through the networking and media industry. In fact, the Acai berry has become widely known for it’s anti-aging properties due to being featured on MSNBC News and Oprah. Anti-aging expert, Dr. Nicholas Perricone boasts the Acai berry as one of the most nutritious and powerful foods in the world. It is also known to promote a healthier cardiovascular system. Cardiovascular disease is still the leading killer in the United States.

The Goji is becoming widely known for it’s properties said to promote longevity, vitality and energy, It is appropriately nick named, the “happy berry” because it is said to promote cheerfulness and vitality.

The Mangosteen pericarp is known for it’s level of Xanthones. The pericarp or outer shell contains the highest level of Xanthones, which have shown in laboratory tests to have activity against several cancer cell lines. It is also known for it’s antihistamine and antimutagenic properties.

Naturopathic physicians who are joining Amigo Health for it’s quality product have said the combination of three superfoods - Goji, Mangosteen and Acai, just enhance their properties and when digested and released into the body actually alkalize the body.

Rumor has it Bill Gates discovered it while studying at Harvard University and it inspired his dream of “a computer on every desktop.”

The course teaches students personal power, metaphysics and how to develop a prosperity consciousness. It covers everything in depth from how to create abundance, wealth, love and how to become healthy.

The Fortune is in the Follow Up in Marketing

By Kelly Smith

One of the biggest mistakes marketers make is failure to follow up with potential prospects or customers. One reason could be that the importance of follow up is not usually taught in typical network training. They may tell their downline to follow up once and sit back and let the money come rolling in. If you’re reading this, chances are the money isn’t rolling into your bank account and you aren’t really sure why.

Follow up is key in your business. Most home business owners today operate their businesses both offline and online. Did you know the average website only contacts it’s visitors one time? Statistics show if you only make one contact you will lose 54% of sales! That’s 54% too many.

Remember what they say. “The money is in the List.” You want to nurture a list by developing a relationship with them. You can actually do this before ever contacting them. How would you like to have people actually calling you before you call them? All of this is tied to follow up.

It’s important to follow up with your list several times because:

They could have accidentally deleted your offer

Life got in the way and they completely forgot

Skepticism. It’s human nature to feel somewhat leery about giving your hard-earned money to a stranger!

They don’t have enough trust in you yet

It’s not the same as a physical store where the person can walk in and use the senses to physically, touch, smell and feel how the product works. When you are appealing to people through cyberspace you have to learn how to appeal to their senses in another way.

Marketing is the art and science of empowering, communicating and developing a relationship with another human being based upon their needs and not yours. The reason follow up works so well is because it is creating the relationship.

Follow Ups----

A Phone call – Part of a follow up can be a call to introduce yourself. This is one way to define yourself among the other people who market online and never make that call.

Follow up Emails using an Autoresponder – We combine a phone call with some type of follow up system like an autoresponder or mailing system. Autoresponders are great for follow ups because they are automated and you are not making more daily work for yourself. You can send out info about your products such as testimonials for a health product, discounts and updates regarding your service.

Another question is how many times do you need to follow up? Many experts believe 7 is the magic number, but let’s say at least more than 6. A study done by the Association of Sales Executives revealed that 81% of all sales happens on or after the fifth contact.

There are some free mailers out there but loading your arsenal with a good autoresponder can make it a bit easier. There are some fantastic autoresponders out there with various price points according to your budget. Obviously the more you pay, the more robust program you may receive, but most people are operating within a budget.

Look for an autoresponder that allows you to personalize your emails with the person’s name, has unlimited autoresponders, excellent email deliverability and easy to use.
Don’t forget, the follow up is just as important after the sale as before. This is also a major mistake business owners make. They don’t follow up with customers after the purchase which could keep them coming back for more.

Entrepreneurial Couples – Working with Your Spouse in a Home Based Business

By Kelly Smith

Series -- Part One: Success Principles

It’s great to have a business partner when you are working from home for motivation in a some times isolated environment. But what if your business partner is your spouse?

This can be a tricky situation. You are always together and it’s hard to “leave your personal problems at the door.” So what do you do? You both have a dream of being your own boss, but does that dream include working with each other? There is no one way to do it successfully but there are some key factors to look at when considering working with your spouse. I can only share with you what has worked for myself and husband, Brad. Does it come easy? Absolutely not. But for us, the rewards of being able to stay home with our children full time out way the spiritual warfare we had to go through.

Here are some success principles that have helped us succeed as both a couple and business partners - -

Planning Ahead-
You may want to heed this advice from someone who never heard it herself. Plan ahead. Sit down and discuss it with your significant other. It is a big decision. Try this, each one of you sit down and write out on a piece of paper what you each want from your business, what kind of things you can each bring to the business and what you expect from a business partner. Then sit down together and share these thoughts with each other honestly. Don’t bend to the other person for the sake of giving in, think about what you personally want to achieve. You can then decide together whether your goals/expectations are a match.

Balance-
One thing I have learned is it’s all about balance. I do have an extra advantage over my mom friends now that my husband realizes just how hard it is to be a stay-at-home parent. Working at home while being a mom with two toddlers was a great deal of stress to take on myself, so when Brad was ready to jump in, I welcomed it, sort of. It was hard after the birth of our first child, Devin, we ran into the same issues as we always did when we tried working with each other. We didn’t communicate, didn’t set priorities, expectations, wants and needs. It was a power struggle. But we wanted our marriage and our business together to work so we kept on and we learn how to balance our priorities every day.

Equality-
Teamwork is so important when working with your spouse/business partner and that means operating on an equal level. Throw away stereotypes of the man bringing home the bacon and the woman making dinner and changing diapers. You are equal partners and share household and business tasks equally. Sit down and talk about what tasks you are going to take. Have a schedule up on a dry erase board. One word of advice, share the tasks neither of you like doing and take turns on a daily or weekly basis, that way neither of you is resenting the other. Work together, when making calls, especially in the beginning, make them together, sharing the list of leads. Ensure you each invest yourselves 100%.

Establish Personal Time and Business Time-
Choose what times to work, split shifts and when to take personal time together as a couple and as a family.
When you have children, running a home based business can be difficult, especially when the little ones are not in school yet. You are all together 24/7 and toddlers and babies are so unpredictable. So many factors can come into play, like illnesses and tantrums. Set aside time of who will be taking care of the children while the other one works. You can split up the days into morning and afternoon or every other day. It’s a good idea to take the children outside or to play activities outside of the home, so your other half isn’t tempted to help you when things seem frazzled.

Encouragement-
Support is one of the great benefits of working with your spouse. Encourage each other like you would any other business partner. Sit down and brainstorm together. Try and focus on each other’s strengths instead of weaknesses. When it comes to your spouse there can be no such thing as constructive criticism. So do yourselves a favor and try to keep it to yourselves when you don’t like the way the other one does something. When we first started working with each other, Brad and I got into extensive conversations about how we spoke to people on the phone. We had to learn that we each had a different approach and accepted it.

Appreciation-
Appreciate what a gift it can be to be at home with your children and each other. You have a freedom most only dream of. It can be the ultimate experience to explore hidden talents and the great learning experience of working together. You are equally building a business and a home together. Most of all, have fun!

Entrepreneurial Couples – Working with Your Spouse in a Home Based Business Part Two

By Kelly Smith

Series -- Part Two: Trust & Communication Builds Strength

I have asked so many couples who are good at working together at home how they did it, but no one could give me a specific answer. Speaking from experience, I would guess it’s because one size does not fit all. You must design your own model of working together. We have found the rewards are so powerful when you discover how to do it. But there are some elements couples do have in common in making a partnership work and it’s having trust and good communication.

Trust-
Trust is a big factor with any partner so you have to trust your partner enough to make major decisions when one of you can’t be there to make them together.
Dealing with Conflicts and Issues

When anger comes into play, for instance, at least one of us usually has the headspace to take a step back and say, “What are we really angry at here?” What many fail to realize is they take their anger from a situation out on the first person that comes along. Yes, there will be days when you unknowingly have a bullseye painted on your back and you better look out! Seriously. Take heart when someone pulls out the claws and find out the real reason for the frustration. Explore different ways to deal with your issues. There are usually programs through mentoring, coaching or business groups geared towards teaching people how to work with each other through different techniques or spiritual practices. Remember, everyone deals with issues in the workplace differently. Take a break and go for a walk or do something relaxing like Tai Chi.

Communication-
Communication is of course key to any relationship, particularly a marriage, so if you’re going to be working with each other as well, learn how to communicate. I can’t emphasize it enough. Prepare for a bumpy ride, at least in the beginning. Brad and I were both set on working for ourselves and with each other, but it took a while, years in fact. It can be tough spending day in and day out with the same person, no matter who it is and throwing children into the equation made it all that tougher. It also made us more determined to do it than ever. We discovered how to be clear about what we wanted and not to hold back when something was bothering either of us. When you communicate openly you remove a wall that can stand between you and your success. When you have other lives you are also working towards, it can make a huge difference in your thought process.

Get Outside Perspectives-
Network with others to get outside perspectives. Start a mastermind group. It will allow you to brainstorm and share ideas. It will also teach you how to look outside of the box for solutions.

Expectations-
It’s important to let each other know your expectations in the business. You can call it a goal or an expectation. Tell each other what you ultimately want to accomplish and figure out how you want to get there. The journey is just as important. When you know ahead of time what the expectations are, you can work with each other on each other’s terms. Relax, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Marketing Training - Things to Look for in a Training Program

By Kelly Smith

One thing I have learned in network marketing is when you have training in one specific company you may be doomed when applying it to the next.

Why is generic training in the marketing industry so important? Compensation plans are different, products and services can be different even the way the company does presentations can be different.

Let me give you an example of what can happen to people’s mindset when they have gone through company-oriented training. When we were involved in a company that dealt in long distance plans, it went under – many people even the ones making good money, quit. Just quit.
Here’s why – they didn’t have training they could apply to any company or business that taught them about mindset, being a leader or how to develop a solid team. When you have generic training, you literally have the ability even if you lost all your money (bankruptcy for example) to start all over again, no fear. Do you think Donald Trump or Robert Kiyosoki would have a problem, if someone took all of their money to start from scratch? They have the knowledge.

Just remember, yes knowledge is power, but only if you act on it and take massive action.

Here are some key things to look for in a generic training program:

Talking to People/Leads on The Phone - Learn how to talk to leads on the phone and within minutes get them to evaluate your business. A trainer/mentor should be able to show you how to close people to evaluate your program within 45 seconds. The introductory conversation should only be about 2 - 3 minutes in length.

Leads - Learning how to generate leads can ultimately save you money and bring you people who are truly interested in your business. They will also have previewed it before you even spoke to them. Let’s face it, it takes work to generate your own leads and setting it up. If you truly want to generate your own leads it isn’t a magic pill. Bringing people to your website is a process, so start calling leads while setting up your lead generations system.

Mindset - You hear it all the time in those company trainings, stay positive, have energy when you talk to people and have the right mindset. Here’s the Truth. Without the right MINDSET, nothing will work. Did you know you can literally reprogram your subconscious and unconscious areas of the mind to train your beliefs for success and failure? With the right information, it can be done. It’s not just about positive or motivational thinking. Do they teach you how to tap into the right mindset? This should be the heart of the training but it usually isn’t.

Conference Calls/Presentations - Doing your own presentations over the phone or online can be so powerful and save you time. Why would you want to spend 20 to 30 minutes of your time talking to every prospect when you can talk to many prospects for 20 to 30 minutes once or twice? Did you know ultimately the person who makes the big money is the one doing the conference calls and presentations? This is an extremely powerful skill to learn.

Teach Others To Be a Leader - Also not in the typical company training manual, they just teach you duplication, but not really how to teach others. Why don’t they teach you how to become a leader? Because they need followers, especially ones who can’t be self-sufficient.
Be a LeaderWhen you are a leader, you are constantly in control of your own destiny, personally and financially. You will have true partnerships instead of depending on your upline. Learn how to cut the apron strings and be on your own. Quit the blame game because it is your business and your responsibility. Leaders are accountable. Become a role model.

Conclusion: There are so many get rich “Automated Programs” but it’s hard to know what really works. I stick to real people who have made money and can mentor me or answer my questions if needed. There are some very successful marketers so look for ones who will be accessible and be leery of programs that will supposedly bring in droves of customers, business partners and clients and you don’t have any real contact with the marketers who started the program in the first place. Also, many of these programs will teach people to spam others to get into their business. That should be a red flag.

Lead Generation - Building Your List

By Kelly Smith

Your first question in building a successful business should be how do I find people who want to be part of my team or consume my products or service? You need to build a list or generate your own leads.

Typical Network Marketing - -
The stereotypical network marketing training programs usually suggests starting with a warm market by making a list of your family and friends. They also teach the 3-foot-rule method of talking to everyone who has the misfortune of walking in your path or standing in the same line at the bank. Who wants to do that?

Another problem is you will eventually exhaust your warm market. Now if you want to share your products go for it, but if your friends and family haven't asked for an opportunity pitch why are you giving them one? It can frustrate you into giving up and quitting before you start.
Generating Pre-qualified Leads - -
Focus on a target audience who are looking for the type of products you are selling or a moneymaking opportunity you are offering. There are email lists or direct marketing list rentals out there to purchase your targeted audience. Fortunately, the Internet has made it easier and less expensive to find target markets through lead systems and tools to develop the relationship.

Other ways to build a list:
- PPC
- Content
- Purchased Leads
- Website
- Safelists
- FFA Lists
- Lead Generation Systems

PPC - -
We are talking about pay-per-click advertising. Google Adwords and Yahoo/Overture ppc are among the best and the fastest to get you moving in no time.

Content - -
This is a subject that could take up a whole course. Content is good, better than good. It can get your website moving as well as generate leads. One example is a press release. These work well and really get your name and website out there.

Leads - -
If you can make a deal with a leads distributor, go for it. Did you know that many lead companies would actually give you free leads to try them out?
Just a warning about leads. Before you email any leads make sure you have a reputable resource, and you can actually call these people on the phone. There are many lead sources that tell you they have great lead prices, but they could actually get you shut down because they were illegally harvested. Be careful on this one.

Making Use of Your Website - -
Unfortunately, people still believe if they build a website, the people will flock to it and money will start pouring in. This is a myth that is still being perpetuated to people who are new on the Internet, who are unknowingly just being led to the slaughter and losing time and money.
There are many ways to make use of your website and bring people to you. Learn how to optimize it with the search engines. Determine keywords people will use to look for your Website, be specific. Weave those keywords into your website copy, images, meta tags, site description and page title. You can use Wordtracker for testing out keyword relevance. They have a free trial to check it out.

Also make use of:
- Blogs
- Online journals
- RSS Feeds

These things can keep people coming back and develop a relationship with you and your company. It's called stickiness.

Robert Allen said in his book, Multiple Streams of Internet Income, "Most beginning marketers spend 90 percent of their time creating the perfect product and 10 percent of their time finding a perfect audience. The secret is to reverse the ratio: Spend 90 percent of your time finding the right audience. I call this 'finding hungry fish'".

Offering knowledge, eBooks and other free goodies will also help to build a list and generate your own leads. Be creative and think outside of the box. People will come to you in no time.

By Kelly Smith

Make a personal connection through a website or email even when you aren’t there and bring money in, literally while you are sleeping. The possibilities became endless for people wanting to start their own business from home who didn’t have a large bank account to tap into for a franchise or coffee house. But with the endless amount of people on the Internet also trying to start a business, how does a person compete? Do you need a fancy website or lots of money to get yourself number one in the search engine?
