"I'm sorry, what did you say your name is again?"

“I’m sorry, What did you say Your Name Was?”

How many times has this happened to when you called back a lead? You give them a follow up call and there is silence on the other end when you call and say, “Hi, Charlene, this is Kelly Smith we spoke the other day. Did you get a chance to listen to that conference call?”

You can tell right away, they have no idea who you are and they never listened to any of the information you sent them.

How did you become such a forgettable person?

Don't worry, it’s not that you are that forgettable, but you haven’t done really anything to stand out amongst the rest of the people calling these same prospects. You haven't made an impression or a connection with the person on the other end of the phone.

It suddenly hit me like a ton of bricks that even though I ended up hitting it off with this person and we spoke for over an hour during the first call, I was in a long line of people calling these same prospects. These prospects become overwhelmed.

So how do you become unique? How will they remember you?

It’s all about your story. Your story is what makes you, well unique. Tell your story, truthfully, people want to know you’re real, it’s one of the things that helps them relate to you on the same level. Tell them about your trials and tribulations along with your successes and why they want to be part of your team and no one else’s.

Tell them who you are, about your family, etc… You can do this by creating an “About You” page on your website. If you have audio, video or pictures even better. This can put a name to the face and people will remember you by not only hearing your voice but remembering your face or children’s. Those small touches can make a world of difference and create a memory and link in someone’s mind that stands out among anyone else.

If you don’t have a website yet or feel like creating a website is way over your head – go to Myspace or create a Blog where you can show your personality through pictures and writing your story.

Your Story is an integral part of building your business. You don’t want to fade in the background and hear that silence on the other end of the phone. In no time, people will be calling you because they read your story, saw your pictures and heard your voice and they are relating to you.
